Pen and Ink
| I started with pen and ink drawing and slowly graduated to color. An ink pen and a sheet of paper are enough to create an infinity of intimate and classical drawings where a diversity of ink strokes and techniques replace colors and a myriad of details conveys a sense of reality and dimension. I always thought that I would be saved if stranded on a deserted island if I had an endless supply of ink and paper. Some of the larger ink drawing that I have done were
completed after many months where progress was measured in centimeters.

| As Dali, Picasso, Honoré Daumier, the French printmaker and the Japanese and Chinese landscape romantic painters and calligraphists before them, I find pen and ink to be the most
intimate of all mediums. Many collectors purchase pen and inks for their unique and classical
quality. I was represented for many years by the Vorpal Gallery in San Francisco and New York
which exhibited the first drawings, wood-cuts and etchings by M.C. Escher. A simple brush or a
pen dipped in ink can create the most detailed and dramatic drawing on paper. |
